Yesterday my family celebrated our first Thanksmas, that is, an overflow day some time between Thanksgiving and Christmas that isn’t exactly like either one but is imbued with the holiday spirit nonetheless, and also features a rich, high-quality feast complete with an assortment of pies for dessert.

When I first learned that we’d be having this get-together, it occurred to me to write a song about the occasion, and so I did. The skilled musician Matt Brown helped me figure out the proper chords to accompany the lyrics, and I completed a recording over the past week or so via GarageBand.

The recording of Thanksmas is available here.

I played the song for the fam yesterday after we had all eaten our fill, and the audience’s reception was encouraging, though perhaps my voice was a little too quiet.

Happy Thanksmas, everyone!
